Someone has posted about this condition on another site. I just wondered if anyone had heard about it before?
Here is the post....
"There is a dual coverage of some of the same areas between the pudendal and posterior femoral cutaneous nerves that could cause some people with neuralgia of the posterior femoral cutaneous nerve to be mistaken to have pudendal neuralgia. The nerve gets snagged in the fibrous tissue over the lateral ischium. Some of the branches of this nerve innervate the lower buttocks, labia majora, lateral to the rectum and into the back of the upper thigh."

Sarah,
Yes, the symptoms are similar. Dr Riant (Nantes ) spoke about this in his pudendal neuralgia presentation in Glasgow recently.
A patient local to me who I know quite well has this following orthopaedic surgery. She had surgery to release it in April. ( this is an elderly patient who does not have internet access )

Hilary,
She had the surgery in France - there is no one in the Uk doing this surgery although there is recent interest in it
