while, finally, it looks like at least part of my problem has been solved. I went to a pain clinic that specializes in neuropathic issues, and it's definitely a nerve that's responsible for the pain i've had in my pelvis, thighs and lower back. this was confirmed intially with a sensation test and then an injection of lidocaine into the nerve through ultrasound which immediately numbed my pain.
There is no known cause in my case, and apparently that is not uncommon in nerve damage cases. My doc said in some cases, nerves can essentially just become confused. I was treated instantly with lidocaine and cortisol after the confirmation, though dosages may need to be played with a bit. Not sure how frequently I'll have to have them yet, but could be anywhere from monthly to annually. Doc hopes I won't need other pain meds, but can continue with my pain killers, celebrex and valium suppositories as necessary |
