Patient Experience

This section of the website is about the personal experiences of patients with pelvic pain and their carers. It includes information about how their lives are affected and some of the main difficulties that those with pelvic pain mention frequently.

Patients are individuals and deserve to be treated as such in their encounters with health professionals. This means that their preferences and ideas need to be listened to and acted upon. Patients should be offered “choice” of treatment. Patients know their condition and “their” pain better than anyone, but it can be difficult to get the message across. There is very little evidence based medicine in the field of long term pelvic pain. Where this is the case, patient experience is extremely important.
